Buying a chicken grill the other day (I urgently needed it), naturally – with sauce, in a long-favored shop, I suddenly thought: why did I buy a sauce??
It is clear that with him any dish, not only a chicken, “plays”, but you cannot compare a “homemade” with any purchased one, especially since it is not a chicken, it does not take so much time, and even cheaper.

To make a simple sweet-and-sour sauce, add sugar to the saucepan, pour vinegar over it and stir well. We put on a weak fire, stir until syrup is formed. Give a little cool and combine it with soy sauce..
Then add ketchup or tomato paste and again for 5 minutes on the fire, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, let cool and shift to beautiful, preferably transparent, salad bowl..
Everything! This sauce can be used with almost anything – with french fries, nuggets, even with one bread. True – delicious!

Chinese sweet and sour sauce
- soy sauce – 2-2.5 st. l .;
- olive oil – 2-3 tbsp. l .;
- tomato paste – 3-3.5 st. l .;
- corn starch – 0.5-1 tbsp. l .;
- onion turnips – 1-2 heads;
- ginger (root) – a small piece;
- garlic – 1-2 cloves;
- sugar (dark) – 1.5-2 tbsp. l .;
- orange juice – 2/3 of the usual glass;
- dry wine (white) – 1.5-2 tbsp. l .;
- apple vinegar – 0.5-1 tbsp. l .;
- water – 3-4 tbsp. l.
Preparing for half an hour.
Caloric content – from 300 to 500 kcal.
Chopped onion, ginger and garlic put in a pan with olive oil, preheated, lightly fry so that the onion becomes transparent.
Meanwhile, in a saucepan, mix tomato paste, soy sauce, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, orange juice, sugar and wine, add roasted vegetables and bring to a boil over low heat.
Then pour a starch, previously dissolved in cold water, in a thin stream. Mix thoroughly and leave on fire until thick..
Some housewives then filter such Chinese sauce or whisk in a blender, but it is possible to ignore all these manipulations. He is so tasty. Give the “flavor” to any meat or poultry.
Option for meat
In principle, you can use any sweet and sour sauce for meat. But sometimes it is worth it to “show off”, especially when there is time.
- soy sauce – 3 tbsp. spoons;
- Tomato (pasta) – 2 tbsp. spoons;
- vegetable oil – 3-4 tbsp. spoons;
- Tabasco (sauce of cayenne pepper fruits – sold in supermarkets, you can cook yourself) – to taste;
- orange juice – 0.5-2 / 3 cup;
- bow – head;
- ginger root – a little bit;
- garlic – 2-3 slices;
- Bulgarian and chilli pepper – 2 and 1 pc. respectively;
- ground black pepper – to taste;
- starch (corn) – 1 tbsp. spoon;
- Pineapples (canned) – 1-1.5 cups;
- sugar – 1/4 cup;
- cold water – 1/4 cup.
You can cook for 30-35 minutes.
Caloric content: 180-200 kcal.
Finely cut the ginger, garlic and onion and fry them for 2-3 minutes in vegetable oil, add the Bulgarian pepper cut with ribbons and smaller chili pepper, fry just a few minutes. Mix with tomato, orange juice and soy sauce.
Then, a little bit afterwards, we add the finely chopped pineapples together with their juice, sugar, ground pepper, Tabasco sauce and, if necessary, salt, mix everything and stew for another 15-20 minutes. At the very end, carefully pour the starch diluted in water, and bring the mixture to the desired consistency. Strain through – and to meat.
Soy fish sauce
Under this sauce, you can serve almost any fish – sea, river, white, red, it is only desirable that it does not have small bones. Zander is especially good under it..
- onion turnip – a small head;
- red pepper (ground) – to taste;
- garlic – 3 cloves;
- soy sauce – a tablespoon;
- tomato-paste or ketchup – 2 tbsp. l .;
- sugar – 1 tbsp. l .;
- vinegar – 1 tbsp. l .;
- vegetable oil – 2-3 tbsp. l.
Cooking 20 minutes.
Caloric content: 160 kcal.
Fry on chopped vegetable oil in a skillet, finely chopped onion to transparency.
Ketchup, chopped garlic, red pepper and soy sauce mix.
Heat the vinegar and sugar in a skillet until the syrup is formed, cool a little and add to the previously prepared mixture, which is then sent to the pan to the onion.
All together, stirring, for several minutes we torment. Fill the pre-fried fish with ready-made sauce and simmer for 5-7 minutes.
This sauce is also very good for rice..
McDonald’s Cooking Recipe
- any sweet and sour plums – 3 kg;
- chili pepper – 1 pod;
- garlic – 2 heads;
- coriander – 1.5 tsp;
- granulated sugar – 800-900 g;
- salt – 1-1.5 Art. spoons;
- adjika (dry) – dessert spoon.
It takes about 1 hour and 15-20 minutes.
Caloric content: 196 kcal.
Put the plums in a deep bowl (better – enameled), put them on the stove (they are juicy, so we can do without water). We carefully watch and mix, so as not to burn. When the berries soften, grind them through a sieve (metal is better).
The resulting puree again boil for a few minutes, add chili, adjika, coriander, sugar and salt. Another 10-15 minutes boil, in the end add chopped garlic finely. We mix everything – it is ready.

So, the sweet and sour sauce does not have any kind of “reference” recipe, it is universal. Accordingly, there are no strictly regulated ingredients, they are determined mainly by taste preferences..
For example, in order to give it the necessary acidity, it is not necessary to use orange or lemon juice, it can easily be replaced by juice from sour berries – lingonberries, cranberries. Sugar will successfully replace honey.
And even our ordinary pickles may well become a worthy ingredient of this beloved by many sauce, which is able to give delicious taste to even the most uncomplicated dish..
